  • Why is Grandparents/GrandFriends Day so important to us at Golda Och Academy?

One of the important Jewish values that we teach our students is L’dor Va’dor- from generation to generation. Our goal for this very special all-school day is to promote relationships among the generations and with our school. We want you to see firsthand what our students learning and the special environment that we have created at Golda Och Academy. Please enjoy this special day!
  • What are the Lower School and Upper School programs?

At the Lower School, visitors will start the day with light refreshments and participate in activities with the children in the classrooms that encompass our Judaic and general studies programs. At the Upper School, visitors will have lunch, enjoy performances and a student activities fair, and attend a class with their grandchild/ren.
  • What if Grandparents/Grandfriends cannot attend?

There will be a follow up email with digital access to a lot of special videos and photos that you can enjoy.
  • How do we choose the date for Grandparents & Grandfriends Day?

We take great care in choosing the date and times of this event. We want to create a welcoming experience for grandparents while ensuring that student learning is minimally interrupted, including standardize testing and Jewish holiday programming. We apologize that it is impossible to find a date that works for all of our special Grandparents and Grandfriends. If you can’t be there, we hope you will join us at school milestones or other school events.
  • What happens if no one is able to visit my child(ren)?

While Grandparents & Grandfriends Day is a special event where relatives can bond and see your children in action at school, we take special care in ensuring that all of our students—whether they have a visitor or not—feel included during the day. At the Lower School all students will be doing group projects and at the Upper School students attend regular classes.
  • What is the recommendation for transportation and parking?

We love that so many guests are able to attend this wonderful event. Please keep in mind that parking is limited on both campuses and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is also some off-site parking (first-come, first-served) with a shuttle provided to transport guests to campus. We advise that a low-stress option is to arrange a ride from family members to drop off at either campus, so that visitors won’t need to worry about parking. For those attending both the Lower School AND Upper School programs, we have a shuttle that will transport guests from the Lower School campus at the end of the morning program to the Upper School campus for the afternoon program.
